INSTRUCTIONS BULL CREEK CLEANUP - 7/20/02

· PUT ON IVY BLOCK IF ALLERGIC TO POISON IVY (IT IS EVERYWHERE !)
· WEAR SUNSCREEN, PROTECT FROM SUNBURN WITH LONG SLEEVES/PANTS
· WEAR ORANGE VEST WHEN NEAR A ROADWAY
· OBSERVE/AVOID TRAFFIC AT ALL TIMES WHEN NEAR ROADWAY
· WEAR GLOVES TO PICK UP TRASH
· BE AWARE OF WILDLIFE - THIS IS THEIR HOME - DON'T DISTURB THEM
· WATCH WHERE YOU STEP (DOG POOP, SNAKES, GLASS, BARBED WIRE, ETC.)
· BEFORE PICKING ANYTHING UP, MOVE IT WITH A FOOT TO BE SURE NO CRITTERS AR IN OR UNDER IT.
· IF YOU SEE A NEEDLE OR SYRINGE, GET YOUR LEADER, PICK UP ONLY WITH GLOVED HAND, PUT IN PLASTIC BOTTLE OR CAN FOR PROTECTION, TURN IT IN AT CHECK-IN, AS THEY HAVE TO BE DISPOSED OF CAREFULLY.
· BE VERY CAREFUL IN/NEAR THE CREEK AS IT CAN BE VERY SLIPPERY
· PUT ALL TRASH IN BAGS SUPPLIED
· PLACE BAGS BY ROADWAY, PARKING LOT OR TRAIL HEAD (OR NOTE LOCATION ON YOUR TEAM MAP)
· DEPOSIT ANY LARGE OBJECTS TOO LARGE TO BAG WITH THE BAGS
· ENJOY YOUR TIME IN BULL CREEK - OBSERVE THE FLOWERS, WILDLIFE
· GET TO KNOW OTHER VOLUNTEERS - MEET NEW FRIENDS
· LIST UNUSUAL ITEMS FOUND
· COME BACK TO SIGN UP TABLE WHEN FINISHED IN YOUR AREA TO CHECK IN

· KAB PROVIDES SIGNUP/WAIVER LOG, VESTS, GLOVES, BAGS, IVYBLOCK, FIRST AID KIT, TENT, FOOD, MUSIC, DUMPSTER, TENT FOR FOOD
· PARD PROVIDES MAINTENANCE TRUCKS TO PICK UP TRASH AND DEPOSIT IN DUMPSTER
· BCF PROVIDES CLEANUP AREA MAP, AREA ASSIGNMENTS, TEAM LEADERS, VOLUNTEER INSTRUCTION SHEET, STAFFS TABLE WITH SIGNUP/WAIVER LOG AND MAKES TEAM ASSIGNMENTS AND RETURN CHECK-INS
· BCF PROVIDES COFFEE AND DONUTS FOR SETUP CREW OF UP TO 25
· SETUP CREW STARTS AT 7 AM, READY FOR REGISTRATION BY 8 AM
· VOLUNTEERS ASSIGNED AS ARRIVE, CLEANUP STARTS AROUND 9 AM
· CLEANUP ENDS AT 12 NOON OR WHEN TEAMS FINISH
· FOOD SERVED AT NOON, MUSIC NOON to 2 PM
· VOLUNTEERS CHECK IN, SIGN WAIVER, GET TEAM ASSIGNMENT, GET KAB MATERIALS, GATHER WITH TEAM LEADER.
· BCF GIVES TEAM LEADER MAP OF ASSIGNED AREA
· TEAM LEADER GUIDES TEAM THROUGH ASSIGNED CLEANUP AREA AND SEES THAT BAGS AND LARGE ITEMS ARE BROUGHT TO A PICKUP AREA.
· TEAM LEADER RETURNS TO SIGN-IN AREA AND CHECKS TEAM OUT, RETURNS UNUSED BAGS, VESTS, ETC..
· KAB PROVIDES FOOD, DRINK AND GIVES OUT DOOR PRIZES
· PARD COLLECTS TRASH AND DEPOSITS IN ROLLOFF DUMPSTER
· KAB CALLS FOR ROLLOFF PICKUP AFTER ALL TRASH DEPOSITED
